Actor Junaid Khan, who is gearing up for the release of his romantic drama Loveyapa alongside Khushi Kapoor on February 7, has expressed doubts about his casting in the film. Despite being excited about his debut project, Junaid Khan, admitted that he felt miscast in the role.
In a candid interview with Screen, Junaid revealed that he questioned director Advait Chandan about his casting choice. “I was a bit surprised that they wanted me because I felt like my personality was so far away from the character. “I asked him if he was sure he wanted me to play the role.”
He further added, “I wouldn’t be casting me in this part, but Advait and Madhu sir seemed pretty confident.” His honesty about the casting process sheds light on his initial reservations but also highlights the trust and confidence his director and producers had in him.
Loveyapa, a remake of the Tamil film Love Today, marks the first theatrical release for both Junaid and Khushi, as their debut films—Maharaj and The Archies—premiered on Netflix.
Earlier, in an interview, Junaid acknowledged his privileged background, stated, “Producers will cast me even without seeing any public presence. Not many actors have that. It’s purely because of the family I come from,” he told Radio Nasha.
Apart from Junaid and Khushi, Loveyapa also stars Ashutosh Rana in a pivotal role. The film releases in theatres on February 7.
