John Abraham says promoting films on The Kapil Sharma Show does not lead to higher ticket sales : Bollywood News

John Abraham is currently looking forward to the release of his film Attack. Recently, in an interview he spoke about how with new talents coming in the industry, it will stop "belting out crap". He said he lost himself somewhere down the line and wants to come back.

John Abraham says promoting films on The Kapil Sharma Show does not lead to higher ticket sales

During an interview with Tried & Refused Productions, a Youtube channel, the actor was joined by Attack’s director Lakshya Raj Anand and music director Shaswant Sachdev.

John said, “I had a franchise that worked, and I belted out something that was just the opposite for the second part. Why did I do it? Because I succumbed to the diktats of commercialism. And because it was a part two, I said, ‘Hey, listen…’ And if you see all the part twos that are releasing now, it’s like…”

John was last seen in Satyamev Jayate 2 which was a flop. Attack is hitting the theatres this Friday. He continued saying, "I’m not trying to hard-sell this film. I have no qualms about being ripped apart for something I’ve done badly. 6The fact of the matter is, if you don’t call a spade a spade, you’re going to be stuck.”

John also pointed out Lakshya gets ‘hyper’ about marketing the film, and that being on The Kapil Sharma Show doesn’t mean ticket sales are better. He cited the example of The Kashmir Files not being marketed anywhere and went on to become a success without it and an ‘over-marketed movie’ failed on the other hand. He said, “Lakshya took me to Kapil's show, saying ‘I want you to be on Kapil Sharma’. I like Kapil, he’s a nice boy, but it doesn’t translate to ticket sales.”
