Marking International Women’s Day, JioStar Network has announced a special programming line-up across its Hindi movie channels that will feature 50 films led by female protagonists. The curated showcase will be headlined by the World Television Premiere of Maa, starring Kajol, which will air on Star Gold on March 7 at 8 PM, with a repeat telecast scheduled for March 8 at 12 PM.
According to the network, the line-up brings together a range of films that centre on female characters across different genres. The selection includes biographical dramas such as Mary Kom and Shabaash Mithu, action-driven titles like Mardaani 2 and Yashoda, as well as films including Mimi, Damini, Neerja, and Stree 2.
The programming will run across nine Hindi movie channels within the network—Star Gold, Star Gold 2, Star Gold Romance, Star Gold Thrills, Star Utsav Movies, Star Gold Select, Colors Cineplex, Colors Cineplex Bollywood, and Colors Cineplex Superhits. The initiative aims to present a collection of stories centred on women through different cinematic narratives over the course of the day.
At the centre of the programming slate is the television premiere of Maa, which focuses on the emotional bond between a mother and her family. The film’s debut on television has been positioned as the key highlight of the network’s Women’s Day line-up.
