Jaya Bachchan advocates traditional dating etiquette in recent episode of What The Hell Navya 2.

The latest episode of Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast, What The Hell Navya 2, titled Macho Myths and Modern Men, made its debut on Thursday, drawing significant attention from eager fans. In this episode, Navya engaged in a thought-provoking conversation with her mother, Shweta Bachchan, brother Agastya, and grandmother, Jaya Bachchan, delving into the complex topics of masculinity and toxic behaviour.

The discussion traversed through various facets of modern masculinity, including the significance of intent behind actions. Agastya emphasized the importance of genuine intentions, stressing that acts of kindness should stem from sincerity rather than a sense of superiority.

Touching upon dating dynamics, Navya highlighted the evolving expectations of independence among women, particularly in the realm of splitting bills on dates. Navya said, “Especially after feminism, and women feeling more empowered now, a lot of things they want to do independently. For example, today, if you take a girl out on a date, and you offer to pay, some people get offended by that. Because women feel that they are equally…” Jaya exclaimed, “How stupid of those women. You should let the men pay.”

Reflecting on generational shifts, Shweta Bachchan remarked on the traditional expectations of men to take the lead in relationships, contrasting with the evolving dynamics of modern courtship. To which Jaya Bachchan said, “I would like that. It’s better for a man to propose, I’d be very awkward.”

Agastya underscored the importance of good manners in distinguishing between chivalry and toxic behaviour, emphasizing the significance of sincerity in actions. He said, “If you say, ‘I would love to pay for this meal’, it’s not going to come across the wrong way because you’re doing it out of kindness, not because you think you’re ‘the provider’. It’s the intent.”

For the unversed, Navya Naveli Nanda, who refrains from Bollywood and has been following the footsteps of her father by pursuing her passion for business, kicked off What The Hell Navya a couple of years ago, wherein for the first time ever, fans got to witness the three generations of Bachchan women discussing a wide range of subjects and concepts and sharing their opinions.

On the other hand, her brother and Shweta’s son Agastya Nanda is a passionate actor and made his big Bollywood debut alongside Suhana Khan and Khushi Kapoor in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies. The actor has also bagged his second film with Sriram Raghavan titled Ikkis, co-starring Dharmendra, which is a biopic based on Arun Khetrapal.
