Inside Out 2 press conference: Ananya Panday associates Suhana Khan with the emotion of joy; also says “Orry is disgust for sure”

Inside Out (2015) is considered a cult animation flick and hence, there are tremendous expectations from its sequel, Inside Out 2. Today, Disney hosted an event in Mumbai wherein they announced that Ananya Panday will voice the character of Riley in the sequel’s Hindi version. The actress, who graced the event, caught eyeballs with her dress and also opened her heart out.

When asked Ananya Panday about how she deals with ‘emotional khichdi’ (mix-up of emotions), she confessed, “Emotional khichdi goes on in my mind everyday (smiles). But it’s important to truly feel your emotion. Don’t suppress it.”

The actress was asked about the emotion that she related to the most. Ananya Panday answered, “That’s definitely disgust and embarrassment. I think I am dressed like an embarrassment today!”

A fun question was thrown at Ananya wherein she was asked to associate her close friends with an emotion. She replied, “Suhana Khan would definitely be joy. Shanaya Kapoor (her sister) would be anger because she would say ‘Don’t angry me’ when we were little (laughs)! And Orry (Orry Awatramani) is disgust for sure. Orry is always like (imitates him).”

During the question-and-answer session with the media, Ananya Panday was asked about her favourite animation films. She revealed, “I love Finding Nemo (2003) and The Lion King (1994). I am fascinated with the character of Scar. I’d like to know his back story, like what happened to him in his childhood.”

She also appealed, “I hope kids watch films like Inside Out where they can learn about life. I remember watching the first part in the USA with my best friend, Suhana. I was 17 at that time. I found the film beautiful, and I could connect with its idea. Hence, I hope the kids and youth of today watch Inside Out 2 as they’ll understand so much about life.”

Bikram Duggal, Head Of Studios, Disney Star, spoke highly of Inside Out 2 saying, “We all experience different kinds of emotions but imagine how magnified they are when they happen to a teenager. Those aspects have come out in a very special way in this movie.”

He also explained how Ananya Panday was signed. “We were on the lookout for our Riley and we are so grateful that the person who came to our mind first – Ananya Panday – agreed to do it,” he said. “We thought she’d be ideal as she has that dynamism and she has performed complex characters with finesse. Also, she’s a youth icon and we wanted to connect with young people. You’d be amazed to see how beautifully she has voiced a difficult character.”

Inside Out 2 releases in cinemas on June 14.
