Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma recently revealed that one of his favourite films is the iconic Bollywood movie 3 Idiots, starring Aamir Khan. The young batter shared his choice during a special felicitation ceremony organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in New Delhi, where several members of the Indian cricket team were honoured for their achievements.
The ceremony celebrated India’s success in winning multiple ICC Cricket World Cup-related trophies over the past year. Alongside the awards, a light-hearted rapid-fire round was conducted by veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle, who interacted with players including Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. During the interaction, Bhogle asked the players about their favourite films and actors. Responding to the question, Abhishek said, “My favorite movie is 3 Idiots. I enjoyed that movie a lot. And my favorite actor always changes.” His response drew smiles from the audience and highlighted the wide cultural reach of the film even years after its release.
Released in 2009 and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, 3 Idiots became one of the most influential Hindi films of its time. The film, which also starred R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor Khan, explored themes such as education pressure, friendship and the importance of pursuing one’s passion. It went on to become a massive commercial success and continues to enjoy a strong fan following.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is also backing upcoming projects under his banner, including the film Ek Din, which stars Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan and is expected to release in theatres on May 1, 2026.
