“I am in love with Tapsee” – Amit Sadh

en Bollywood News “I am in love with Tapsee” – Amit Sadh

After making it big with his chocolate boy image in the serial 'Kyun Hota Hai Pyaar', Amit Sadh's career took off as a popular star on the small screen. However, the changing trends of television did not interest him and Sadh decided to take a break. Talking about his TV days, Amit says, "I don't know what I was looking for at that time but I knew I wanted to do something else. I wanted to travel, read, I wanted to grow and live a normal life. So I took a break. I blew up money and then came back saying, 'bhai kaam de do paise khatam ho gaye'."

Rarely had any small screen star made it big on the silver screen until few years back. But now, with the generation changing, we saw some stars being an exception to this and that includes Amit Sadh. Ask him how it feels to break this stereotype and he says, "I am very grateful to directors like Gattu (Abhishek Kapoor), Subhash Kapoor, Shoojit Sircar, Tigmanshu Dhulia who do not distinguish between TV and film stars because they just need a good actor. There is so much talent in our country and it doesn't matter where it comes from. I am thankful that they gave me this opportunity."

For him, the golden opportunity came in the form of Abhishek Kapoor's film Kai Po Che!, an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel '3 Mistakes of My Life'. Talking about this turning point in his life, Amit says, "That film gave me a sense of gratification and self belief. All the efforts were worth it. The acknowledgement and acceptance I got from the fraternity and fans after the film released were overwhelming."

Amit was flooded with movie offers post that and now will soon be seen in the rom-com Running Shaadi.com and the actor can't stop gushing about it. "It's a light hearted film different from my serious role in Kai Po Che! It's about a guy who comes to Punjab and realizes that he can cash in on shaadis. He builds a website named Runningshaadi.com where he gives the couples a chance to elope. The issues they face add the humourous touch to the film." Adding further about the shooting experience, Amit says, "Working with Shoojit and Ronnie Lahiri was like Main ghar pe hi tha aur pata nahi kab shooting khatam ho gayi. And it was fun working with director Amit Roy. " He surely did not forget to mention the special girl in the film Tapsee Paanu, "She is a doll. I am in love with her. She is dating someone, so whenever she breaks up I guess I will get a chance then."

So isn't there any girl in his life? "I am waiting for Tapsee na. I think my life is all about waiting since I have been doing that for so long," says Amit.

Well, it's not just the film where he woos Tapsee. A recent ad commercial for a deodorant featuring Sadh along with Tapsee is rather sensual. Ask him if this too is a part of a promotional campaign and Amit merely brushes it off as a co-incidence. "While I was shooting with Shoojit dada and Amit Roy for the ad, Tapsee too was taken for it. It will be good for promotions but that was not the idea."

“I am in love with Tapsee” – Amit Sadh

As we said earlier, Amit has his plate full and he is shooting for yet another film titled Guddu Rangeela where he will be seen in a comic role. However, the film faced a setback recently when Amit got his leg injured while shooting for it. Says Amit, "While shooting for a tricky action shot in Shimla, my timing went a little wrong and I landed on my leg with full force. My ankle got twisted and I was on bed rest for two months. I resumed the shooting in May."

Guddu Rangeela also gave Amit an opportunity to work with actor Arshad Warsi. Impressed with his co-star, Amit is all praises for this choreographer turned actor. "He is one of the loveliest people I know. His timing in everything is great. So it's a learning experience to share the screen space with him. He is a great dancer with such an amazing sense of humour." Ask him if this is his first comic role and Amit has a rather unique answer to that. "When I am playing Guddu, I am not trying to make you laugh. The character of Guddu is what adds the fun element. In fact, this film falls in the genre of dramedy."

As he moves upwards on the ladder of success, Amit Sadh is surely stepping into the world of stardom but the actor never dreamt of being a star. "I never came looking for stardom. During a seminar recently, I advised the students that 'don't come to become a star, come to become an actor'. However, I would not deny that I am enjoying the attention but I have a better word for stardom and that is love," he says.

Not many know that the actor is celebrating his birthday today. While his fans are thrilled to see their favourite star enjoy yet another successful year, Amit doesn't seem to have any lavish plans. "Subhash Kapoor gave me the best gift and that is Guddu Rangeela. So I will be shooting for the film in Panchgani. I am doing what I have always wanted to. So I think it will be one of my best birthdays. In fact, I am that kind of a guy who wouldn't mind working on December 31 too and my crew hates me for that."

Being in a happy space, working hard to strive to fulfill his dreams, we can see Amit taking yet another step towards his destination as he bagged two more projects. "After completing Guddu Rangeela, I will start with Tigmanshu Dhulia's Yaara and I am doing an urban rom-com which will be officially announced this month."
