Speaking about the launch of Hungama’s first original show, Neeraj Roy, Managing Director and CEO, Hungama Digital Media said, “Hungama Originals are a step forward in storytelling for us. Our first show, Damaged, belongs to a genre that is largely unexplored in India and follows a unique narrative featuring a strong storyline with compelling performances. We hope to launch 10 to 12 original shows in this fiscal year and through each, we intend to tell stories that are distinct and contemporary.”

Damaged stars Amruta Khanvilkar as the seductress, Lovina – a promiscuous, brutal and remorseless serial killer, and Amit Sial as Abhay – a ruthless, angry and trigger–happy cop. The story begins with the disappearance of a famous painter. Soon the cops realize that his case is just the tip of the iceberg, there are numerous other young men who have gone missing and have never resurfaced. Investigations start and a suspect emerges – Lovina. This turns into an intriguing cat and mouse game between Lovina and the police, led by Abhay.

Speaking at the launch, Amruta Khanvilkar said, “It is very rare to see platforms in India that break conventions and dare to tell stories that are bold and go beyond the obvious. I am glad that Hungama created a show about a woman who is strong, unapologetic and dangerous. Damaged features a daring storyline and has characters that stay with you long after the show is over. I am certain that the audience will love my new avatar and experience a story that has never been told before.”

Elaborating on his role, Amit Sial said, “Being a psychological crime drama, Damaged has many layers and my role is no different. Abhay is a complex character. He’s angry, disturbed and dealing with issues that push him over the edge. I am happy to have been a part of a show that pushes the boundaries and offers the viewers a story that is truly different. I am certain that the show will keep the audience entertained through its run and leave them wanting for more.”

Damaged is an interesting study of human behaviour with both the lead stars playing characters that are flawed and have more shades than one. Lovina is an ordinary woman who has a way with men, but finds it difficult to forgive their trespasses. She ultimately embarks on a dark journey from which she can’t return. Abhay, a cop obsessed with solving the serial killings to the extent that he’ll go to any lengths possible, is plagued by his own inner demons that rob him of his humane qualities. The worlds of these ‘Damaged’ characters collide, creating a dramatic and gripping confrontation.

The show is directed by Aarambhh Mohan Singh and produced by Ekant Babani owned Alligator Media Productions. Damaged also stars Shruti Ulfat, Anil Mange, Dhruvaditya Bhagwanai, Amit Gaur, Rohan Shah and Shreyes Lowlekar, among others.

Damaged is available to stream on Hungama Play and its partner networks, starting today.
