The suspense is finally out. After weeks of keeping all cards close to their chest, the makers of Bittoo Boss have finally revealed the identity of their leading man. Though one had earlier wondered the youngster playing ‘Bittoo’ would be someone belonging to the industry or the scion of a certain Mr. Money Bags, it has turned out that he is someone who is a complete outsider. A Delhi youngster who stepped into the world of glamour over half a decade ago with dreams in his eyes to make it big in Bollywood, the boy in question goes by the name of Pulkit Samrat.
“For Pulkit, bagging the coveted role of Bittoo Boss is pretty much akin to ‘luck by chance'”, says a source, “After the cult success that Pyaar Ka Punchnama has gained, when the producers of that film decided to make another youth entertainer, they were in a position to role in any another notable young star. Budget was not an issue either because success speaks for itself. However, Abhishek Pathak and Kumar Mangat Pathak (film’s producers) and director Supavitra Babul (a newcomer himself) were sure that they didn’t want to compromise the essence of their film with mega bucks coming in.”
The idea was to bring the film on floors quick instead of holding on to the production due to star availability. This is how Pulkit came into picture since the youngster was already in touch with the makers for quite some time.
“Everyone was convinced that Pulkit deserved a solo hero launch and hence it was a mutual decision to wait for a while before the right opportunity came”, the source continues, “He has a good experience on TV after his extensive stint there in the past and hence grooming wasn’t an issue either. This is the reason why when Bittoo Boss came calling, it was a mere formality before he and the producers came together to ink the deal.”
When contacted, Abhishek confirmed the news. “Yes, Pulkit was always in consideration for Bittoo Boss and we are glad that he is on board. After shooting with him for 15 days, we are all the more convinced that we made the right choice.”
Talking more about the character of Bittoo, Abhishek adds, “Bittoo is a man of the true Punjabi spirit. Playing a V.D.O cameraman, he has an eye for beauty. He sees things, people and situations with his heart. His biggest purpose in life is to capture and preserve the purity of every human emotion unfolding in front of his eyes.”
Kumar Mangat Pathak’s daughter, Amita Pathak’s naughty antics with Bittoo are said to be a major highlight in this fun entertainer.
Presented by Viacom 18 and produced by Wide Frame Pictures with music by Raghav Sachar and lyrics by Kumaar, Bittoo Boss is directed by debutant Supavitra Babul. The film is all set for April 20 release.
