On his Instagram, Paddy Considine reflected on his journey as he bid adieu to the show. "Thank you for the kind words. I cannot reply to every comment, but I'd like to acknowledge that they haven't been lost upon me," Paddy Considine wrote. "It was an incredible adventure where I made lots of new friends that will be with me for the rest of my life. I'd like to thank the creators for allowing me the freedom to make Viserys my own. I have never loved a character so much."

Considine also thanked Sian Brooke, who portrayed Viserys' wife Aemma and died while giving birth in the first episode of the series. "I want to give a massive love and respect to who came in for only a few days but changed the course of my character with her brilliant performance and commitment to the work," the actor continued. "The impact stayed with me until my final improvised words. She unlocked the missing piece of the puzzle for me and allowed my story to come full circle. From the moment she dies, so does Viserys. It was a love story. That's the secret I carried with me. As sick as he gets, he never, himself, demands any cure. He quietly accepts his suffering, never forgiving himself for putting his beloved wife through such torture in her final moments. Viserys was a gift. I am so honoured he found me. Now, no more."

While speaking to GQ, Paddy revealed that writer George RR Martin told him that Paddy's version of Viserys is better than what he has written in the book. “What I found really interesting about him was that he wasn't corrupted by power,” Considine told GQ. “He just wanted peace. He wanted people to be happy at the end of the day, but that makes him weak. So what would have made him more relatable, if he was a dictator? If he was a tyrant? Would that be more satisfying? It's not who he is.”

“I got a text message that simply said, ‘Your Viserys is better than my Viserys’," Considine said. "It was from George R. R. Martin. And I thought: that’ll do it. Thanks for trusting me.”

The series is a gripping saga that takes us, viewers, deep into the extraordinary world of Westeros and explores the Targaryen family - the all-powerful dragon riders who are the seemingly invincible rulers of the seven kingdoms. Bitter rivalries, jealousy, lust, the quest for power, and betrayal will tear the Targaryens apart and threaten to destroy a dynasty that has ruled unchallenged for a century.

Directed by Miguel Sapochnik, Clare Kilner, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Greg Yaitanes, with George R. R. Martin, Ryan Condal, and Miguel Sapochnik along with Sara Hess, Vince Gerardis and Ron Schmidt, helming as executive producers. Even though the series is a prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon has an individual storyline with new characters played by an impressive cast, including Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, and Sonoya Mizuno.
