Gurmeet Choudhary expresses his thoughts on Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Ram in Ramayana; says, “Ranbir is an exceptional actor who brings every role to life”

Gurmeet Choudhary, who recently played the power-packed Guru in Netflix’s Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2 alongside Tahir Raj Bhasin, Shweta Tripathi and others, is widely celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan which featured his real-life wife Debina as Goddess Sita. Recently, he shared heartfelt reflections on his journey and expressed confidence in the ability of Ranbir Kapoor to excel in similar roles. For the unversed, Ranbir is set to play the lead in Nitesh Tiwary’s Ramayana alongside Sai Pallavi.

Reflecting on his early days, Gurmeet said, “When I worked on Ramayan, I was just 23 years old. The show was produced by Ramanand Sagar, who also created the iconic Ramayan featuring Arun Govil sir. Before that, I was completely unknown to the audience and had never appeared on screen. That’s exactly what Ramanand Sagar believed in—when portraying a divine figure, the actor should have no prior public image or background, allowing viewers to connect with the character devotionally.”

Gurmeet, who captured hearts as Ram, explained the depth and responsibility of embodying such a revered character and showcasing his confidence in Ranbir Kapoor, he added, “Ranbir is an exceptional actor who brings every role to life. Audiences loved me as Ram because they saw the essence of Ram in me, and I am confident that Ranbir will also do complete justice to this role.”

Speaking about Gurmeet, the actor is not only a known personality in the web-series front but one of the biggest television stars who later gained fame with serials like Geet, Punar Vivah, among others. The actor also made his debut with the horror thriller Khamoshiyan in 2015. Coming to his recent appearances, after receiving love for his portrayal as the lead in the Disney+ Hotstar show Commander Saxena, the actor has been basking in the rave reviews that came his way for his role in Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2.
