Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Kaveri Das, Preeti Simoes, Neeti Simoes, Gaurav Kapoor, Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar attended the launch of the show Maa Hai Na in Mumbai. The contestants of the show - Uravshi Dholkia and her son Kshitij, Bhagyashree Sharma and her mother, Shahida Ansari and Afghan, Tanya Mittal and her mother, Sunita Ahuja and daughter Tina, Gullu and his mother and Manisha Rani and her father - were also in attendance.
The event was a fun-filled one from start to finish. Shilpa Shetty Kundra set the tone with her opening as she said, “I am so happy that all these celebrities are not cooking today! Main bhagwan ko thank you kehna chahungi ki main aaj zinda hoon kyunki humne inka khana khaya hai (laughs).”
She revealed, “It’s my first show, by the way, as a host. I have done many TV shows as a judge but hosting is very difficult.”
Shilpa confessed that it would be hard for her to choose any contestant jodi as the best because she has equal fondness for all of them. However, she took the liberty to take digs at them.
Shilpa Shetty Kundra quipped, “Kshitij is a better cook than his mom. Afghan, tumhara khana mujhe nahin khana hai! The way you made the jalebi... ‘Afghan Jalebi’ gaana bahut accha tha lekin tumhari jalebi utni hi kharab thi (laughs). Sunita may not show this to the world but inside, she’s very ‘emosanal’. She was also in shock to learn that Tina is such a bad cook. She wanted to disown her daughter after the first episode (laughs).”
The best part of the event was when Chandan Prabhakar and Ali Asgar called the parent contestants on the stage and asked to play a game. They were asked the meaning of Gen Z terms. Sunita Ahuja was asked, “What is the meaning of GOAT?”
Sunita thought for a moment and asked, “Bakri?”. This is when someone from the audience remarked that her husband, Govinda, is a GOAT. Sunita heard and remarked, “My husband? He’s not a bakri! He’s a...”
She didn’t complete her sentence and started laughing. She also said, “Shilpa samaj gayi!”
Sunita Ahuja was asked to guess the meaning of GOAT. She replied, “I guess GOAT means something like Greatest Of All Talent.” The correct answer is Greatest Of All Time but she argued that even ‘talent’ is applicable.
Maa Hai Na premieres on Zee5 on June 12.
