GOT7 spread joy and love through ‘NANANA’ music video in triumphant comeback

The highly-anticipated comeback of K-pop group GOT7 is here and it is everything and more one hoped for! Following their departure from their previous company JYP Entertainment, GOT7 had released a single 'Encore'. Following that, they all worked on their solo music releases and drama ventures focusing on solo careers. Now, over a year later, they have come back with a vibrant album conveying the message of love to their fans.

The self-titled album is in a way rebirth of the group. Accompanied by a vibrant music video 'NANANA', the song is written and produced by group's leader JAY B. The bright and energetic track celebrates their return to their fans (IGOT7) as they croon, "By your side, na-na-na / Someone who wants to make you laugh, na-na-na /It feels good, na-na-na / I wonder about everything." The pastel tones of the video along with visual effects and feel-good relaxed vibe makes it a summery affair.

“This one is also for the fans,” JAY B said at the global press conference on Monday. “(We want to be) the people that make them happy and be healing for them. The GOT7 album really represents our appreciation for fans. It’s no different from being called IGOT7 (fandom name.)” Regarding the music video, Youngjae said, "Going along with our album theme of construction, we are inviting fans to our new home and want them to have fun in there."

Talking about the song, Jackson said, “It’s so GOT7. It reminded me of ‘Thursday’ and ‘Page’ where we have so much fun onstage.”

"We wanted to come back as #GOT7 after JYP days, and thought that rebranding is needed," JAY B said at the press conference talking about the process of making the self-titled album. "During this process, I think my self-esteem and confidence went up and drove me to properly rebrand and put out a great quality of work that we are proud of."

Adding to that, Jinyoung said, "It really is the most GOT7-like album. With the looks, and the music, the group shined the most on stage when JAY B produced. So this album represents that." Mark Tuan, who now lives in the US and had to work according to Korean timezone for the album, said, "We were prepping for this comeback since last year. We had this feeling of coming back. So, I am happy that it has finally happened."

Talking about what the last seven years meant to them, BamBam said, "[The] last 7 years were very meaningful. Because of those days, we are here now. We want to continue to put out a great album as #GOT7. [We] can't tell you when it is, but it will happen in the future."

"There definitely was more synergy when we are together as 7 of us, compare to doing solos," Yugyeom added.

“We wanted to come back as GOT7 after JYP days and thought that rebranding is needed,” explained JAY B about what it meant to work on this comeback. “During this process, I think my self-esteem and confidence went up and drove me to properly rebrand and put out a great quality of work that we are proud of.”

He also worked on getting the trademark of GOT7 and subunits. He said, “I could have done this process through a third party, but I just wanted to do it myself, talking and getting a signature from each of the members.”

GOT7 album also contains songs including 'Truth', 'Drive To The Moon', 'Two', 'Don't Care About Me' and 'Don't Leave Me Alone'. The album was released on Monday, May 23, 2022, following two days of fan concerts in Seoul.
