Avinash Tiwary, Medha Shankr, producer Vinod Bachchan and director Prasshant Jha attended the trailer launch of their film Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 at a multiplex in Mumbai. Since this film has ample dose of comedy, the lead actors were asked about their favourite comic actors.
Medha Shankr said, “One actor whose comic timing I have really enjoyed over the years is Akshay Kumar sir. What he can do in films (no one else can). Sometimes, I feel that he’s just being himself. I fail to understand whether he’s playing a character or if he’s the same in real life. He’s so effortless. In fact, I feel that when other actors try to do comedy, a little hint of Akshay’s comic timing seeps into their performance. That’s how good and iconic he is.”
She continued, “Kareena is not known for comedic roles, but she’s damn good when it comes to comedy. She’s phenomenal, in fact. I also feel that in real life, they are quite funny too. Maybe, that’s what translates on screen so effortlessly.”
Avinash Tiwary, meanwhile, replied, “For me, the OG is Govinda. He’s the one actor whose films I watched in cinemas while growing up. Maine ladh-ladh ke, mummy papa sabko leke unki film dekhi hai. I don’t think there’s any actor like him. Put him in front of any other actor in this world, and I can bet you’ll focus only on Govinda.”
He also spoke highly of Gopi Bhalla, who stars in Ginny Wedss Sunny 2, “Gopi dada is here. His comic timing is so different that you can’t emulate it even if you want to. I tried once and then I realized ki mujhe try karna chhod dena chahiye (smiles).”
He further answered, “Then there’s Johny Lever. Then of course, Akshay Kumar.” Suddenly, he asked Medha, “Do you remember I was showing you his scenes?”
Medha Shankr smiled and nodded. Avinash continued, “Akshay Kumar’s scenes are playing on loop at my place. My friends and I love watching his scenes, especially from Khatta Meetha (2010). So, these are the people jinke saamne koi khada nahin ho sakta when it comes to comedy.”
Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 releases in cinemas on April 24.
