The walls of this boarding school echo lies and conspiracies - Disney+ Hotstar's upcoming series School of Lies showcases the journey of teenagers in a boarding school. Wrapped in the intense mystery of a missing child, this gritty thriller is headlined by Nimrat Kaur, Aamir Bashir, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, Sonali Kulkarni and Jitendra Joshi. Inspired by true events and produced by BBC Studios, School of Lies is created by Ishani Banerjee and Avinash Arun Dhaware, directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware and will begin streaming on Disney+ Hotstar starting June 2, 2023.

It can be particularly challenging for actors to get into character when the role is quite different from their lived reality. Actors often have to slip in and out of their characters. Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, who plays the role of the mother of the missing child, Shakti in Disney+ Hotstar’s upcoming show School of Lies shared her process of slipping into her character Trisha.

Talking about her experience, Geetika said, “School of Lies was intense for me. Being a mother is very far from my reality. I'm not married, I have not made the choice of giving birth, I have not raised any child, I don't have a pet and here we see Trisha, a girl my age, is married and a mother, that also to a child of Shakti's age. My process involved reading up about Trisha, as many times as possible along with talking to Ishani (the writer) and having long discussions with her about my character.”

She further added, “I allowed myself to let a lot of wounds from different parts of life surface. I allowed myself to experience that pain and then later on, tried to heal myself. So yes, my process involved reading, communicating with the writer, being brave, allowing myself to feel all the pain and being at peace to truly understand Trisha."
