The excitement around The Devil Wears Prada 2 has reached Bollywood, with several celebrities sharing their anticipation for the sequel to the cult classic ahead of its release. The film, which brings back iconic characters nearly two decades later, has already generated buzz following the release of its trailer, known for its emphasis on high fashion and drama.
At a recent fashion event, actors and designers spoke about what they are most looking forward to. Ishaan Khatter highlighted the returning cast, saying, “The entire ensemble, The Devil Wears Prada 1 was extremely bingeable and fun. I think it's a huge wait with bated breath just to see Meryl Streep back in that role and to see Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt and all the wonderful actors bring those characters to life again and of course all the fashion, so can't wait to see it.”
Ahan Shetty shared a personal connection to the original film, saying, “The entire film, I used to watch it with my sister when we were younger and she is obsessed with it, so I'm looking forward for the sequel for sure.” Choreographer Shakti Mohan added, “I think Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway coming back together, like it's an iconic film so cannot wait for it to go to the theatre and watch it.” Designers Shantanu and Nikhil echoed similar sentiments, stating, “I think to see stalwarts like Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway is enough.”
Actors also revisited memorable aspects of the original. Sharvari said, “I don’t know, so many moments of actually Miranda Priestly but I think every time she said something like ‘Emily’.” Meanwhile, Bhumi Pednekar expressed her preference, adding, “Always Team Miranda because she is such a great actor. It is such a good part and Meryl Streep still looks the way she looked in part 1, so kudos to her, she is incredible.”
On the fashion front, Sharvari noted that she would pick Anne Hathaway’s wardrobe, describing it as “super chic, super effortless and relatable yet fashionable,” while Sonal Chauhan said, “I think all of them. It is such a stylish movie and everyone's wardrobe, depending on my mood I would steal.”
With conversations building across industries, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to release in India on May 1, 2026.
