Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan recently opened up about her early experiences of working with actor Akshaye Khanna, revealing that she once avoided collaborating with him because of his behaviour on set. The remarks came during a candid conversation on the podcast hosted by Ranveer Allahbadia. Farah recalled working with Khanna in the 1990s and admitted that those experiences had left her reluctant to work with him again for a period of time.

“In the ’90s, I did a couple of movies with Akshaye, and after that I was traumatised. Because he used to be a different person. Yes, introverted, but not a nice person on set,” Farah said.
She added that she would often avoid projects that featured him. “Whenever I heard that Akshaye Khanna was in a film, I used to say, ‘I don’t have the dates’. I think at that time he himself had said that he was losing his hair. He was constantly irritable. He used to throw things and say, ‘What kind of dialogue is this?’ He used to be that kind of person.”
However, Farah noted that the actor underwent a noticeable change around the time of Dil Chahta Hai. According to her, Khanna appeared far more relaxed and comfortable with himself during that phase. “He had reconciled with his hair. In Dil Chahta Hai, he became very chill. Before that, if there was water or rain in a scene, he would always wear a cap—see every rain song of his, such as in Taal. But after Dil Chahta Hai, something changed,” she said.
Farah also praised the actor’s dancing abilities, referring to the song ‘Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe’. “He is a brilliant dancer. If you watch ‘Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe’, he is dancing better than Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan,” she added.
Meanwhile, Khanna has recently been in the spotlight following his performance as Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar, which sparked renewed attention online. Clips from his earlier performances, including his appearance in Tees Maar Khan, have also resurfaced on social media.
On the work front, the actor will next be seen in Ikka, an upcoming Netflix original film. While the sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge is gearing up for release, Khanna is unlikely to have a major presence in the story as his character died in the first installment, though reports suggest he may appear briefly in a flashback sequence.
