Actor Taapsee Pannu has weighed in on the ongoing debate around the rising costs of actors’ entourages, saying that the narrative often presented by some producers does not reflect the full picture of the industry. Speaking in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Pannu said the issue had recently become a heated topic after several producers complained in interviews about the growing expenses attached to stars and their teams.

“I was seeing interviews and a couple of producers were complaining about how stars have so much cost attached to them and they have such a huge entourage cost. This was such a heated discussion. They said that stars have four–five people following them everywhere,” she said.
Pannu, however, pointed out that this perception does not apply to every actor. Drawing from her own experience of working with some of the biggest names in the industry, she said the idea that all stars travel with large teams is inaccurate.
“Firstly, it is not the case with every star. I have worked with the industry’s two biggest stars, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan also for that matter, but when I was working with Shah Rukh sir there aren’t as many people around him. It’s a myth that all actors have a huge entourage,” she said.
At the same time, Pannu acknowledged that certain actors do travel with larger teams. However, she questioned the contradiction she sees in producers criticising the practice while continuing to hire the same stars.
“Yes, some actors do have huge entourages, but my question is that the people who are giving these interviews and producers who have a problem with that, they are the ones who are actually giving work to those stars and actors who have this kind of entourage,” she said.
Pannu added that the debate often appears contradictory from the outside. “These actors are called delusional for demanding so much in this economy, but then these producers are only giving them this. Either you change it or don’t complain about it. From the outside, what do I believe? What they are saying in interviews or what they are doing in real life?,” she remarked.
On the work front, Pannu was last seen in the film Assi, which released on February 20, 2026. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film was produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Sinha under the banners of Benaras Mediaworks and T-Series Films.
The actor also has several upcoming projects in development, including Gandhari, which is set to premiere on Netflix.
