The finale of Bigg Boss 16 is around the corner and last week, Sajid Khan and Abdu Rozik left the game for their prior work commitments. And now, Soundarya Sharma got evicted during the weekend special episode. Post her eviction, Soundarya Sharma spoke about her game inside the home and her bond with former fellow contestant Gautam Vig in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama. Here are the excerpts:
A section of netizens is pointing out that a week after your fallout with Archana Gautam, you are evicted. Do you think your friendship with Archana Gautam has anything to do with your eviction?
No, not at all. Because if it had it would have been through voting and through voting, I was saved. I was a target, especially by Shiv and Priyanka who felt threatened by me, especially after the captaincy task where I gave the ticket to the finale to Nimrit. I stood up by her when her own friends backed out. Shiv took Stan and Priyanka's name and somewhere Priyanka and Shiv must have felt threatened or something that's why they went against me otherwise. If they say we are strong people we should support and uplift strong people if you're not complex, then you would always do that like how I was, so it has nothing to do with my friendship with Archana Gautam. I had a small argument with Archana where she said something about Shiv in a ration task and I took a stand for Shiv, in fact. She was upset that Shiv nominated me and I'm taking a stand for him but all I told to her was that I am just being right and what I feel is right I'm telling you that and what's wrong in it? I was not selective about it.
From the list of evicted contestants so far, who do you think actually deserved to be in the top 5 contestant list?
I think I am for sure. Because like everybody, even I was shocked because it's not on the other side of the voting. It's on the basis of the housemates' rating and especially where Shiv and Priyanka went against me. I just explained in the first question how and why. So I definitely think of myself as a winner as well.
Post his eviction, Gautam Vig told us that you became “overprotective” of him and it did back him down a little bit. His former wife had also said that his bond with you affected Gautam’s overall game. What is your take on that?
Well, this is bullshit if he felt and said something like that. Why would I be overprotective? First of all, he was being questioned about his fake love towards me by Karan Johar, Salman Khan and Bigg Boss. I was mad at him that he did not take a stand for me. Salman sir had shown me the footage, in which Shalin, Gautam and Nimrit were mocking me in his captain's room. He did not respond when I was getting mocked. Later, Salman sir also questioned me for believing that Gautam's affection towards me is genuine. After that, he came to me and told me that he is falling for me. Karan sir and Salman sir kept advising me, yet I stood up by him and his captaincy. Thus, I told him why don't you correct your stance and actions with women because he and his character has been in question, not mine. To correct that being the right friend. And I had to guide him and tell him that this is how it's been shown. then why don't you correct it?
So, it did not back him down and also somewhere your destiny also plays a major role. I am nobody to decide his journey. That is why I feel that my connection with him was over. I didn't know he said something like this about me, but somewhere I knew I got the gut feeling.
And if his ex-wife had said something like that, God bless both of them. They have the least knowledge about me. And after this statement, I feel he did it for the game. I was not looking for love. He fell for me; he made me believe he loved me. He affected his own game by not being genuine and right.
I don't want to comment anything further because I would maintain the dignity and respect of the bond we share. Rest, I leave it to him and if we happen to talk about it and if he reaches out to me, definitely I will sit and talk. I have nothing against him. But this is not something I would agree with.
You were brutally trolled for speaking about Priyanka Choudhary’s education qualification despite the fact that she is an established ITV actress. What do you have to say about that?
Well, I don't have to say anything about the trolling. People say whatever they have to say whether you are doing good they will still say something if you're not doing good, they still say something. And as far as my comment on her education qualification is concerned, no, not at all because every time she would pass a comment about me and my education and I have never thrown weight unless I've been forced to throw weight. Because if you don't take a stand for yourself in the Bigg Boss house, people raise questions about your individuality. I don't know how much portion is making it to the final edit.
She has been very mean to me in certain places. However, it was I who left her friendship after I discovered she ditched me in friendship. She took advantage of my trust, and she said certain things about my abilities while her abilities were being questioned. It had nothing to do with her qualification or anything, per se. May God give her more success. We all have our own journeys, and we all have our successes with us. We don't throw weight at each other.
