In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Shefali Shah opened up about the emotional intensity of the latest season of Delhi Crime. When asked whether this particular season and its theme felt more personal—given its focus on women and young girls—the actress shared a thoughtful and heartfelt response.
Shefali explained that for her character, DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, the weight of every case felt equally deep and urgent. “For Vartika, every case is very personal,” she said, emphasizing that her character never approached any investigation with detachment.
Reflecting on the storyline, Shefali highlighted the gravity of the situation depicted this season. “This was 30 times Nirbhaya. There were 30 girls who could have headed right in the same place,” she noted. She stressed that although the scale of the crime was larger, it did not diminish the urgency or importance of cases in previous seasons. “But that does not mean that was any lesser,” she added.
Shefali also spoke about the time sensitivity that defines Delhi Crime across its seasons. “In season one, there were those six days. As much time passes, the lesser the chances you’ll be able to catch the culprit,” she recalled. Drawing a parallel with the latest chapter, she explained, “And in this it was like if I lose those girls, if they get out of borders, I won’t be able to get them back.”
For Shefali, the emotional stakes remained consistent throughout the franchise. Whether in season one or season three, Vartika’s commitment never wavered. “So, I think for her every case is personal,” she affirmed, expressing how deeply the character internalizes every crisis.
