The single screen theatre owner has been paying tributes to all major movies since decades.

Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible series has always found a great following in India. The seventh film in the franchise, titled Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One, which released today, has also generated a lot of excitement. Suman Sinha, the owner of the famous Regent Theatre in Patna, Bihar, has come up with a unique tribute to the MI series by making a band perform the franchise’s iconic tune. The video of the same has gone viral on social media.

During an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Sinha said that the arrival of every Mission Impossible movie is a big event for his theatre since it is the only one in Patna to screen all seven films of the franchise so far. “We have screened all Mission Impossible films since 1996. It’s a big event for us that we are playing the seventh part as well. This is the reason for celebration. We are celebrating Mission Impossible in our cinema hall,” he said.

The Tom Cruise franchise has always been Sinha’s personal favourite too. “They are amazing movies. When there is Tom Cruise, what is there to question? He is an amazing person and actor. Hats off to Tom Cruise,” he said.

This kind of celebration at Regent Theatre is not limited to Mission Impossible movies. In fact, Sinha has been carrying out such gestures for all big films since decades. “During Hum Aapke Hain Koun, we decorated the theatre as if it’s the residence of the bride where people come with baraat,” he added. “There was mehendi and rangoli everywhere and perfume being sprinkled everywhere. The film ran here for 47 weeks. It was a record for Rajshri Productions. Then during Vivaah, we made a marriage mandap. During Dabanng, we made a banner of 60 X 40 feet. We did the same for Ghajini too.”

Regent is a 95-year-old cinema hall and Suman Sinha is the third-generation owner. His son and daughter too have started looking after it, which makes them the fourth generation from the family to run the theatre. “We want to give it back to the people. It has the best sound system. There has been no compromise of any kind. We have upgraded the cinema hall to international standards. That’s why our theatre has been surviving for 95 years. It has 652 seats. These multiplexes are no competition with us. We have always brought the best from the market. This is my pride,” said Sinha.

Among the forthcoming films, he is planning such a tribute for the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan. “Shah Rukh has revived himself through Pathaan. He has always been a great actor and a crowd puller. We also used to feel bad when his low phase was going on. We have always played all Shah Rukh films, except Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham because of an issue with a distributor,” said Sinha. He has already come up with a huge poster for the Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2, which releases on August 11.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One has been receiving thumbs up from the audience and critics alike from around the world.
