Pooja Hegde is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in Indian cinema. With a career spanning just a few years, the actress has already made a name for herself in the Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi film industries. Hegde started her career with the Tamil film Mugamoodi in 2012, and made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with the Hrithik Roshan starrer Mohenjo Daro. As the actress has predominantly worked in South films, many assume that she lives in the southern part of India. However, that’s not the truth. Instead, she is a “Bandra girl.”

It all happened during an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama. The actress was asked to give a brief about her background for her fans across the country. She asserted, “I am a Bandra girl but I have just become an India girl now because people are always confused about where I live.” She then recalled, “When we were shooting for Mohenjo Daro, we were doing a photoshoot. (After that) Hrithik goes - where are you going?”

The actress further added, “I said - I am going home after this. So he said what time is your flight and I said flight I live like five minutes away. He's like oh you're from Bombay I said yeah I've been born and brought up in Mumbai. I have worked in different languages which is probably why the perception is that I'm not from here (Mumbai).”

She continued, “I love it to be honest because I just feel that it's not limiting. People see you in different lights all the time because they don't know where you are from. So it's also great to surprise people sometimes.” Then she went on to speak about the perks of knowing different languages that help to connect with people “really instantly.”

On the professional front, the actress is currently making headlines for her latest release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Helmed by Farhad Samji, the film was released on April 21. Pooja shares the screen space for the first time with Salman Khan.
