The intriguing teaser of Lag Ja Gale that is gearing up to go on air this week has left many baffled. While love stories often start with little nok-jhok, the promo of this new show features full-fledged hatred between two characters Ishaani and Shiv played by Tanisha Mehta and Namik Paul. While romance seems far-fetched in their reel life, how far-fetched is the idea of love in real-life for Tanisha and Namik - the actors answer this curious question and a lot more in this exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama.
Namik Paul is known for some intense performances in shows like Ek Deewana Tha and Ek Duje Ke Vaaste. Ask him about real-life romance, and the actor turned nostalgic as he confessed to growing up with love stories in films. “I've always enjoyed watching romantic movies. I've grown up watching the biggest movies, which were either family dramas or love stories,” he confessed. He also added that how romantic shows gives you a lot of space to explore a character in depth. “So it's also you get to explore a lot more in these kinds of shows because the human drama, the human element of them drives the story, the characters interactions drive the story. So it's a lot of fun to kind of explore that because you can play a lot of shades and you get to explore some kind of how interactions work and what makes people who they are,” he continued.
His onscreen ladylove responded like a die-hard romantic fan adding, “I believe you marry the one you love.. and you’ll find someone in life for sure.. so let the magic happen with time. Just enjoy the journey.” While it seems that Namik and Tanisha have similar thoughts of romance, Ishaani and Shiv are poles apart on the show. “Shiv Dhoopar is this Punjabi man who values his family. He wants to protect and provide for them. But, he thinks that the biggest way he can do that is with money. So he's very obsessed with working and generating wealth. He has done quite well for himself. But at the same time, he has some issues which spring from his past. When he was young, his family went through something quite dramatic, and that has kind of shaped him into the man that he is today.”

On the other hand, talking about Ishaani, the actress compared her to her real-life Tanisha saying, “They share similar goals and ambitions but their personalities and the way they approach things are very different. My character Ishaani has more flavours and shades.” Tanisha will be seen playing the lead for the first time and it was quite intriguing to see the way she powerfully stands her ground in front of a tad bit arrogant Shiv in the promo. Ask her how she shot a promo where she had to be extremely rude to Namik and Ms. Mehta said, “Me being rude to him has some history and explanation in the serial.. so it is justified.” “So I enjoyed… aise daily rude banne thodi milta hain,” she added with a wink.
Lag Ja Gale is expected to premiere on February 7 on Zee TV at 6:30 pm.
