EXCLUSIVE: “Michael Jackson told me that he loved my song ‘Jimmi Jimmi'”- Bappi Lahiri in 2015 2015 : Bollywood News

Music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri, who was famously known for his disco music in the 80s and 90s in the Indian music industry, passed away at Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital on February 16. He was 69 and was suffering from several health issues.

In an old exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama in 2015, the singer talking about his hit 'Jimmi Jimmi' said, “Nowadays I live in Los Angeles and doing 2-3 Hollywood projects. So in a party, a Chinese girl came to me and said Namaste. I was with my friend. I asked that girl if she knew any of my songs because I’ve got a China Gold Awards for ‘Disco Dancer’. I said ‘Jimmi Jimmi’ and she exclaimed.”

“When Micheal Jackson came for a show. I met him when Raj and Baal Thackerey brought him at their house. The first thing he said to me was ‘I love your song ‘Jimmi Jimmi’. Just like there is one Kishore Kumar. There is only one Micheal Jackson.”

Bappi Lahiri was popularly known for the songs like 'Chalte Chalte', 'Disco Dancer', and 'Sharaabi'. His last song was 'Bhankas' for Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Baaghi 3 in 2020.

PM Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the legendary composer-singer. Bollywood celebrities including Ajay Devgn, Madhur Bhandarkar, Nimrat Kumar and many took to social media to pay tribute to late composer-singer.
