EXCLUSIVE: Manoj Desai REACTS to CBFC giving OMG 2 ‘A’ certificate: “Sex education ko ‘A’ certificate nahi diya jaata” 2 : Bollywood News

The Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer OMG 2 was not only clashing with Gadar 2 but also highlighting a taboo subject, sex education. Readers may recall that CBFC suggested 27 cuts and gave an ‘Adults Only’ certification to the Amit Rai directorial. In an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, producer and executive director of G7 multiplex and Maratha Mandir cinema, Manoj Desai, shared his thoughts.

While agreeing that the “A” certification impacted the business of the film, Desai asserted, "Sex education is very important, and sex education should not be given an 'A' certification. So, it's a matter of sadness. CBFC was actually frightened after what happened with Adipurush, so they took precautions on this."

As the conversation progressed further, the veteran producer was also asked if there was any latest release, which was not expected to do decent business. In his immediate response, he said, “OMG 2.” He further added, “After 27 cuts, after ‘A’ certification, I was a bit scared.”

For the unversed, OMG 2 was released on August 11, the same day Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 hit the theatres. While Gadar 2 was a sequel to Gadar Ek Prem Katha, OMG 2 revolved around the importance of sex education among teenagers in India. In the film, Akshay Kumar played the role of the messenger of Lord Shiva while Pankaj Tripathi essayed the character of a devotee.
