Shrenu Parikh, Bhaweeka Chaudhary, Zaan Khan and Namish Taneja starrer show Maitree has finally premiered on ZEE TV. For the unversed, the recently released daily shop revolves around friendship and betrayal. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, lead star Namish Taneja opened up about various aspects of the show as well as his real life. Here are some excerpts:
How male lead manages to shine when it's a female-centric show?
Personally, I'm so lucky that most of the shows that I have done are female-oriented serials. Now, here, I want to mention that I always received the same amount of respect. So I never thought of that aspect while signing a show. And, somewhere I feel TV shows are for the female audience, especially. Personally, it was neither difficult nor challenging for me given that I get equal respect. In fact, in a couple of my shows, I have played on the front foot.
How would you describe your ten-year-long journey in the business of entertainment?
It's a beautiful journey. I had never thought that I would become a TV star and the audience would love me. So, it has been beautiful so far, and I am hoping it's beautiful in the future as well.
If not an actor, what was your backup plan?
I never had a backup plan. But now, I feel I can’t do anything else than act.
How did you manage to keep yourself motivated during dull moments?
Ups and downs are a part of life. As far as motivation is concerned, I keep learning and charging myself. I attend workshops or watch legendary actors' interviews. I have an aim, and until I achieve it, I will keep motivating myself.
There is always a debate differentiating between an actor in TV, OTT, and film. What is your take on it?
For me, when I am auditioning for anything, be it TV, OTT or a film, I give my 100%. Speaking on a personal note, I feel when we do TV, an actor doesn't get that much time to prepare or learn the dialogue for our scenes, because sometimes, the broadcast is on the same day. Whereas, in the case of OTT and films, an actor gets that liberty. So they differ from each other only on the grounds of preparation. There are certain stereotypes that TV actors are loud. But, what I will do in TV, I will do the same in OTT and film as well.
What your character, Ashish, is expected to bring in Maitree?
As Ashish, I will highlight how much emotions and friendship are important in life. And, how an honest guy like Ashish believes in leaving in the present time, how he showers love on his dear ones. As Ashish in Maitree, I just want to focus on telling the importance of honesty.
