On February 7, ZEE TV launched two new serials Maitree and Lag Jaa Gale. Speaking of the former, as per the promos, it is about two best friends and how their world turns upside down when a misunderstanding rises. Ahead of the show’s premiere, lead actress Bhaweeka Chaudhary spoke about the show, her professional life, and more with Bollywood Hungama. Here are excerpts:

Over the years, the notion of female friendship has changed. How would Maitree will portray it?

I agree with you that notion of female friendship has changed over all these years. Maitree is portraying female friendship in a unique way and more relatable manner and for that, you need to watch the show!

What are the main three ingredients in Maitree which make it a relatable yet unique story?

(1) Divine Relationship, which is beyond the definition of blood relations.

(2)Treasure the little things. Real and strong friendships are extravagant because they are built on simple yet beautiful things like kindheartedness, affection, loyalty and love for each other.

(3)Embark on new experiences together. Friendships are strengthened by meaningful experiences and unforgettable memories.

As the promos are out, what do you have to say about the audience’s reaction to them?

Yes, the promos are out and the Maitree team has received a tremendous response. The audience is showing extreme love and already connecting to the bond between Maitree and Nandani. And I am 101% sure when the show is on air they will rejoice every bit of it, woh har ek dosti k pal woh khud se relate kar payenge.

Are you focused to make a career in TV or do you have future plans to move towards the big screens?

I have always dreamt of becoming an actor, for me, TV or the big screen both are the same and require the same dedication. I am grateful for every opportunity I got to date and I always look forward to taking steps ahead if the project sounds good.

What, according to you, are the challenges of female friendship and this serial will be tackling them?

There are relevant stereotypical ideas that this show will change for audiences, for which I will ask you to follow the show. Maitree is going to reach every Indian household and will convey how female friendship is so lovely and beautiful.
