2025 was a memorable year for the Junglee Pictures, thanks to the acclaim garnered by Dileesh Pothan-Roshan Mathew starrer Ronth and Haq, starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Amrita Pandey, CEO, Junglee Pictures, opened up about their much-awaited next film, Daayra.
Amrita Pandey said, “Daayra is a truly special film for us. Reuniting with Meghna Gulzar for the third time - after Talvar (2015) and Raazi (2018) - already makes it meaningful, and having Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran leading the cast takes it to another level. It’s the kind of story that sits right at the centre of Junglee’s creative identity: bold, entertaining and rooted in strong writing.”
Amrita Pandey continued, “Our upcoming slate continues in that direction - genres that excite us, narratives with a point of view, and films that are not just entertaining but leave something behind. We’re committed to collaborating with creators who bring authenticity, originality, and a distinctive voice. That’s the energy we want to carry forward.”
When asked which trends worked for the industry in 2025, she explained, “This year reaffirmed something fundamental: when a film delivers a strong narrative, rooted characters and songs that genuinely connect, it can earn audience acceptance even without a massive star cast. The recent successes of smaller films with new talent underline this shift. Compelling storytelling paired with memorable music is driving engagement. It’s no longer just about big banners or about certain genres. It is about honest cinema that stays with the audience long after the film ends. Each year, we are seeing the audience become increasingly language-agnostic. Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu films are now regularly featuring among the year’s top 10.”
