Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi, who shot to fame after cult hit debut film Gangs of Wasseypur, recently completed her 10 years in the film industry. The actress sat with Bollywood Hungama for an exclusive interview and talked about her journey, her experience of 10 years in Bollywood.
Huma said that she feels her 10 years in this industry have flown by in just seconds. “I don't know when just time flew by but it's been it's made me wiser for sure. It's helped me grow up and helped me make some good decisions, maybe some bad decisions but all in all, I think no regrets,” she said.
When asked if she was more impulsive when signing films during her debut years, she said, “No, I think I was just a kid, making kid mistakes, rookie mistakes. I didn't have anyone to help me or hand-hold me or navigate the process for me. I also have parents with non-film backgrounds right so, if I discuss something with them also, they’ll be like ‘Everything will be fine, just work hard.’ And I’m like I need specific advice right now.”
“I mean I actually enjoy it. I think I enjoy it, charting my own path and it's not been an easy ride. But I think it's been full of learnings and it's been full of like self-discoveries. So, I don't look back at myself and be like 'Shit or whatever.’ I just feel like looking back at me ‘I was a kid and I made stupid mistakes and it’s okay. I'm still here, I'm still working and I'm going to learn from those mistakes and do something fun ahead,” she added.
Sharing how she’s grown in the industry over these years and how it’s been a matter of self-discovery, Huma added, “So, I was like ‘No I have to do something more.’ So, I think the past few years have been really like interesting for me because it's been about self-discovery and learning to say no and learning to be like okay this is what I want to do and this is who I am and I think being surer of myself as an actor and that's been a lot of fun. That's been very empowering and I think it also reflects in my work now.”
On the work front, Huma Qureshi recently saw the premiere of the sequel of her acclaimed political drama Maharani which debuted on August 25. The drama series is created by Subhash Kapoor and also stars Sohum Shah and Vineet Kumar in pivotal roles. She also has Double XL, Monica O My Darling, Tarla, and Pooja Meri Jaan next in her pipeline.
