Harshvardhan Rane is having the time of his life as Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) has rewritten all re-release records. The film has proved that there’s a huge demand for such intense love stories. The dashing actor spoke about it and a lot more during an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama.

EXCLUSIVE: Harshvardhan Rane states that he doesn’t want to be a part of “abuse and make out” trend in Bollywood films: “Have you ever seen Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan abusing or consuming drugs on screen?”

When asked if such films are being ignored and too much focus is given to action movies, Harshvardhan said, “I have never leaned towards complaining. I have a solution-oriented mind. If you are saying intense love stories are not being made, then there must be a reason for it. Perhaps, people are not coming it.”

But isn’t this a chicken-and-egg situation? After all, such films are not even made in the first place. Harshvardhan Rane stated, “Correct. It’s like not giving me a job as I don’t have experience. My reply would be ‘How would I gain experience if I don’t have a job?’! Hence, this debate can go on forever. At some point, a producer should be like ‘S***w everything. I should make a hard-core romantic film’. And I have been saying this for a long time that nothing matters more than love. The area below the brain and above the stomach is a very consequential and important one. The feeling of love even beats the adrenaline rush. It gets ignored because of the result. The day it gets good results, it’ll be made. The trend nowadays is to make horror comedies as that’s working. Even action films are made in abundance. Saare heroes John Wick ki tarah suit pehen ke aayenge aur lal colour ke light ke neeche gundo ko maarenge aur khoon bahayenge (laughs).”

He continued, “It’s a pattern. If certain films are made again and again, that’s because the genre has worked in the past. And films like Sanam Teri Kasam didn’t get made as it didn’t work in its original run.”

When asked about the films he wants to sign, Harshvardhan Rane remarked, “I don’t know what I want to do. But I am very sure about what I don’t want to do. What I don’t know to do is abuse on screen. I don’t want to do random unnecessary make-out scenes or consume drugs. I also don’t want to play a horrible person. I ran away from my house after being inspired by certain actors. And they used to never indulge in these four activities on screen. Have you ever seen Shah Rukh sir, Salman sir, Amitabh sir, Kamal Haasan sir or Rajinikanth sir abusing on screen? I never saw them do drugs as well in films. Right now, there’s an overdose of the abuse and make-out trend. The moment people get fed up with it and makers resort back to beautiful work, that’s when I’ll take up more work. Right now, I am patiently waiting for it to die down.”
