After a rocking special appearance in The Ba***ds Of Bollywood (2025), Emraan Hashmi is expected to give fans a treat with Gunmaaster G9, co-starring Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana. The film reunites him with director Aditya Datt after 20 years. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, producer Deepak Mukut shared interesting details about his upcoming venture.
Deepak Mukut said, “I believe in variety. My film Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) was a love story, while Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017) had a social message. Mulk (2018) was a courtroom drama; The Bhootnii (2025) was a horror-comedy; and Dhaakad (2022) was a female-centric action movie. Kanjoos Makhichoos (2023) was a sweet film about how a common man can save money and fulfil his dreams, while Forensic (2022) was a thriller. So, I was wondering what I should make next, which is different yet entertaining. I hold many IP rights, one of which is Surakksha (1979; starring Mithun Chakraborty), featuring the character Gunmaster G9. That’s how the idea for the film germinated. Meanwhile, I used to talk to Adi (Aditya Datt) and he had a story which he narrated. It enticed me and I realized that the title Gunmaaster G9 matches his script perfectly. Our film is about guns, mafia and also touches upon family.”
Recently, Aditya Datt spoke exclusively to Bollywood Hungama about an exciting car chase sequence in Gunmaaster G9, which will be shot over 8 days in Mumbai. On this, Deepak Mukut added, “I have always liked action. I had already shown big-scale action in Dhaakad. I wondered, ‘What can I do bigger in the action space?’ Moreover, the story of Gunmaaster G9 required action and we are not doing it forcefully.”
He continued, “We have done 2 major action sequences featuring Emraan and Genelia. Now, we are gearing up for the car action scene, which is very essential for the film. Once that’s done, we are going outdoors and will shoot in Rishikesh, Haridwar, Mussoorie and Delhi.”
A major USP of Gunmaaster G9 is that it reunites not just Emraan Hashmi and Aditya Datt but also Himesh Reshammiya. Together, they created history with Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005). Deepak Mukut said, “When Adi came on board, we approached Emraan. He loved the story and signed the film. We were then wondering who we should talk to for music. That’s when I told Adi that we should look at Himesh Reshammiya, who worked with Adi in his first film. Incidentally, it also starred Emraan. I knew that if we brought the trio together, it would surely get people excited.”
Deepak Mukut added, “I was anyway in touch with Himesh as I am working on Sanam Teri Kasam 2 as well. We had a meeting and immediately agreed to do the film. Himesh is a very talented guy. I am his big fan as he gave super-hit, melodious songs in Sanam Teri Kasam and my other film, Genius (2018). He immediately made us hear 5-6 songs for Gunmaaster G9.”
He assured, “The songs of Gunmaaster G9 are lovely and I am confident that they would work with the public.”
