You have recently wrapped up shooting for a film. And now, the audience is all set to see you on the TV screen. As you are jumping from film to TV, what is your take on that?

So basically, there's no jumping. It's just that I love doing great quality work and that's about it. Like recently I did Afwah with Sudhir Mishra sir, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bhumi Pednekar and I loved working with them. The same goes for Maitree because this character is very different. It's very nice, I gave my all; blood, sweat, everything and, it's a good feeling wherever you work, be it TV, web or films, work is work for me so yeah, I give my best shot in everything.

Recently, Radhika Madan was questioned for looking down on the TV fraternity. Since you have also worked for a film and are working for TV as well, how would you describe your experience of both formats?

To be honest, if you ask me what is the difference between TV and films, you know, filmmaking and technicalities and working schedules, almost everything is the same. It's just when you make a film you have like 50, 40. 60 days to shoot, so you do one scene in a day, but on TV you don't have that much time you know, (so) you do 15-16 scenes in a day. So obviously TV is a bit difficult. It's not that easy. It's not as easy as it may seem. However, I'm proud to call myself a TV actor because I started my journey with films then after that, I did TV shows.

It's been more than five-six years. I've done seven-eight shows. So, for me, work is work. Be it (as) a TV actor, film actor, or web actor; an actor is an actor. Wherever actors work, they need to perform their 100 per cent. There are so many TV actors doing good films now. So, I feel whenever actors get an opportunity, they should dedicate themselves to their craft, irrespective of what medium or format they are working in.

You recently shared two reel videos from the sets of Maitree. However, not much about your character has been revealed. Could you tell our readers something about your character in the show?

Yeah, I shared two or three reels but it's not even 0.1% of my character in the show. I want my audience to see me in Maitree tomorrow, which is February 7, at 7 pm and then they tell me about my character. It's very different. This is something which I can't describe in words because this character is very unpredictable and I'm just very nervous and excited at the same time. I'm just hoping for the best and I'm just hoping that the audience likes my work, enjoys the show and also showers love on my fellow actors as well.

How does the research and approach towards a role for TV and film differ?

I've done theatre also, so I'm a little bit kind of into method acting. So, I love doing my role. I live that character for that moment. I stay in my character as long as I am playing it. This is my passion and I'm really passionate about my craft and be it film or TV. Again, I will say, you have to give your best, be it any medium. Be it giving 30 scenes in a day or doing one scene in a day; doesn't make any difference for me because I give my all in every scene. Whether it's a walking scene or a long monologue scene, I give my all in every scene. So yeah, I give my all to my character and leave the rest to the audience.

What are the three aspects of Maitree that make it better or stand out from all the current TV shows?

Maitree is a story about friendship, and love, which we have seen already in other serials. But Maitree, from the start itself, unveils a very different kind of friendship. So Maitree and Nandini are friends and Nandini is married to Ashish. Meanwhile, Maitree was about to get married to Saaransh. So, I find it an interesting factor. Plus getting to know what exactly happened between two friends that they have become enemies is interesting. Also, the story is set in the backdrop of Allahabad. And once the audience will start watching the show, they will start noticing what makes it different from the existing shows. On top of everything, every maker tries to create something different and we have done the same.

Your fan clubs have often compared your looks with Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. According to you, your skills reflect which Bollywood star?

So, honestly, they both are my favourites. I'm a big Shah Rukh lover. Since I was a kid and a bigger and bigger pool fan though I don't copy their acting but yeah, they're my favourite actors. I love their crafts. I am one of their million and billion fans. I love their work because they work very hard with all their heart and enthusiasm.

I also try to work hard like them. I forget everything around me when I am working because I'm a very different person when I'm on the set when I'm shooting. I can't compare myself to them as they're huge stars. But, one day, Inshallah, I want to be like them. I want to do big films, big shows. And so, I'm just waiting for that moment. I'm just doing hard work and doing all the great stuff; doing shows, films and the rest is my destiny. Let's see how it goes.
