Actor Arjun Kapoor has often spoken about battling obesity and undergoing major physical transformation before his big Bollywood debut in 2012. Even after becoming an established actor, he has never shied away from talking about his physical appearance. Arjun, just like many others, utilised the COVID-19 lockdown to work on himself. The actor has now lost weight and is at his best physically. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Arjun Kapoor spoke about what inspired his recent weight loss journey.
"During COVID-19, I got a lot of time to introspect and I was also turning 36. It is not a big age if you look at the life span, but in my head, I was like if you want to do this profession seriously for the rest of my life, I have to give it a little more effort and little intensity, energy and positivity, rather than just riding the wave of ‘accha kaam mil raha hai karte raho’. I want to push myself and do better. That process started from there. On my last birthday, I decided that I am going to make sure I am gonna go back to looking and feeling my best. I owe it to the job. It’s not about whether I am a good actor or not. I have to also look like someone you would pay money to watch on the screen," he said talking about how it all started.
He further said, "Then when I came on the set of Bhoot Police, a big-budget film with an ensemble cast, such a good story too, it pushes you, even more, when you are on a set and realize that I need to look even better. Then I got offered Ek Villain, and then I realised I have to do an action film, face off against another action hero. So it just added momentum."
At this point, Saif Ali Khan who was also part of the interview jokingly interjected, "Basically, working with John Abraham made him lose weight, that’s what he is saying."Both burst into laughter at this.
"Today, what you are seeing is 12-14 months of discipline and dedication,"Arjun concluded.
