ZEE5’s Jab Khuli Kitaab has been garnering appreciation from critics and audiences alike for its storytelling and performances. The film explores the complexities of relationships and trust, anchored by compelling performances from its cast.
Directed by the acclaimed actor Saurabh Shukla, the film stands as a testament to his deep understanding of characters and storytelling. Known for his remarkable body of work as an actor, Shukla has delivered a commendable directorial outing with Jab Khuli Kitaab. Reflecting on his experience, co-actor Aparshakti Khurana opened up about working under his direction and what made it truly special.
Talking about working with him, Aparshakti said exclusively, “Of course, when a senior actor, who has been around for so long, writes a film and decides to direct it, there is an automatic credibility because of his body of work. And once I heard the story and understood the world we were stepping into, there was never any doubt.”
He further highlighted how Saurabh Shukla struck a fine balance between being an actor and a director on set, “It’s amazing to see an artist who could deviate himself from the acting stance and give so much freedom to other actors to come and perform. Maybe because in the writing and narration itself there is a certain beat that you have to carry forward as a character. But having said that, the actor within is always curious that maybe it should be done this way or that way. But sir never demonstrated it, which I think is a victory for any artist – that when you are sitting in that chair, you function in that manner and you forget that you are an actor. So kudos to sir that he was able to do that and we all had a great time shooting with him.”
