In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama promoting their upcoming collaboration, the period drama series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, veteran actor Shekhar Suman and his son Adhyayan Suman discussed their on-screen reunion and their unique father-son bond.

Adhyayan revealed their open communication style, stating, "We talk about everything under the sun. At one point, it sounds normal, one point it sounds awkward for the outside person to see… of course with a sense of respect. I feel that’s the best place to be for any kid. A lot of kids today are not able to open up to their families. They don’t even try. I think the healing starts at home. Just open up to your family and tell them your frustration is how I feel."

He further delved into his father's guidance throughout his career, particularly regarding his debut film Haal-E-Dil. "He (Shekhar Suman) is paranoid but he is very quiet, which is what I love because I can sense the energy. He told me, for my first film, that - ‘I felt like it was the wrong debut to choose, Haal-e-Dil.’ He said to me now that you are out in the ocean, you have to swim yourself. So don’t expect me to come and save you, I won’t. I feel like all the wisdom and things I have learned is because I was allowed to swim alone.
