Reputed producer Mahaveer Jain exclusively spoke to Bollywood Hungama wherein he praised Aamir Khan and his social work.

Sometime back, you mentioned that Aamir Khan admires Jain principles. Could you please elaborate?
Yes, it’s 100% true. Since many years, Aamir bhai has been fascinated by the Jain philosophies. He admires and follows Jain principles like Anekantavada (Respect different perspectives), Ahimsa (Non-Violence) and Aparigraha (Non-Possessiveness). Aamir bhai is one of the most sensitive people I know.

A section of society, however, has a different perspective about him. Your thoughts?
It’s quite sad as the truth is absolutely different. Aamir Khan is one of the finest human beings, but is highly misunderstood. He’s probably one of the most misunderstood celebrities in our country. Sometimes, social media perception and reality can be two different things. Anyone who knows Aamir bhai personally would say the same thing.

What makes you say so?
Your work is a reflection of your personality. Look at his work and the way he conducts himself. It speaks volumes about his ideals. His TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’, his organization Paani Foundation and his films like Taare Zameen Par (2007) speak for themselves.

I request all to Google about Paani Foundation’s work. I am sure that it would pleasantly surprise everyone to know the kind of prosperity it’s bringing to thousands of villages in Maharashtra. I have been fortunate enough to witness this incredible journey.

He is far away from name, fame, money and power. He’s also not into any materialistic achievements or rat race. He’s a very simple, kind and genuine person who lives a meaningful life and seeks spiritual knowledge and ancient wisdom.

Can you please share an incident which makes him so different?
Let me share two such instances. In the ’90s, the underworld was ruling the film industry. All film stars had to accept the invitations and visit the Middle East for their parties. But Aamir bhai put his life at stake. He never agreed to it. He is a man of principles.

The second instance is about his TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. For almost 3 years, he did not advertise for 4-5 brands which he used to endorse. This is because he felt that ‘Satyamev Jayate’ is a serious show and an ad featuring him, coming in between the show, would reduce its seriousness. So he decided to let go of all endorsements! This is just an example of his values.

Of course, one may not be perfect, but there’s no doubt that his endeavours and intentions are noble and sincere.
