EXCLUSIVE: “12th Fail has surprised everyone,” says Guneet Monga 12 : Bollywood News

Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12^th Fail turned out to be a surprise success of last year. In fact, the film, which stars Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr in lead roles, continued to do well even after it was released on OTT. A lot of people from the film industry too have heaped praises on the film. The latest addition to the list is India’s Oscar winning producer Guneet Monga Kapoor.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, when she was asked about her take on the films released in recent years, she said, “I think there is some fantastic work happening Pan-India. Kantara blew my mind. This year, 12th Fail did very well. I think some innovation is necessary in storytelling. We cannot keep telling similar stories. These days there is an overdose of certain kind of cinema. So, I feel that is so beautiful about 12th Fail. It has surprised everyone.”

Guneet’s has an action film coming up in the form of KILL. She has produced it under her banner Sikhya Entertainment along with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, it stars debutant Lakshya as the protagonist and Raghav Juyal as the negative lead. The entire film takes place on a train journey.

Speaking about KILL in the same conversation, Guneet said, “I always wanted to do a non-stop action film from the time I started. In the 105-minute film, there is 95 minutes of action. It is relentless. It is one train robbery gone wrong. When Nikhil narrated the story to me, I said, ‘This is great. Let’s do it’. It is so rooted and grounded. It will be insane to do this visually; to hold the audiences for this long. Now, it has a big US distribution.”
