Bollywood actress Esha Deol's recent confirmation of her separation from entrepreneur Bharat Takhtani has sparked renewed interest in an excerpt from her 2020 book. In the book, titled Amma Mia: Stories, Advice and Recipes from One Mother to Another, Deol hints at facing emotional challenges in her marriage, shedding light on Takhtani's behaviour towards her.

Although Deol does not directly accuse Takhtani of emotional abuse, she alludes to a period of growing distance in their relationship, particularly after the birth of their second daughter. In the excerpt, the actress reveals how Takhtani became irritable and distant, expressing dissatisfaction with what he perceived as her lack of attention towards him.

Deol wrote, "After my second baby, for a short while, I noticed that Bharat was cranky and irritated with me. He felt that I wasn't giving him enough attention." She reflects on the challenges of balancing motherhood, career commitments, and marital duties, acknowledging her husband's feelings of neglect while juggling multiple responsibilities.

Despite taking responsibility for the perceived shortcomings in their relationship, Deol revealed that her attempts to address the issue by making time for Takhtani and prioritizing their relationship didn't work. She shares, "Bharat is different; he tells me directly, to my face, if he senses a problem. But there may be men who are not so forthcoming. It falls on you to keep the romance alive. I figured that I hadn't gone out for date nights or a movie with him in a while. So I decided to step out of my tracks, loosen my Dun, wear a nice dress, and go out with him on the weekends."

In the wake of their separation announcement on Tuesday, Deol and Takhtani affirmed their commitment to co-parenting their two daughters. The couple, who got married in a low-key ceremony at the ISKCON temple in Mumbai in 2012, mentioned about their mutual respect and dedication to their children's well-being.
