“Emraan Hashmi’s sense of humor is a little twisted, though kickass” – Prachi Desai

The big moment has come for Prachi Desai. Tony D'Souza directed Azhar is releasing today and her perseverance has paid off as she decides to less, but quality films. Over to the pretty young woman.

Prachi pairing up with Emraan once again in Azhar after Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. That must be something.

That's the whole beauty of it actually. It is important for people to feel the love between two people and Emraan and I have this undeniable chemistry on screen. We complement each other. You can totally feel what Azhar and Naureen must have felt back then in life. All our emotions are through eye contact. Moreover, personally too we share such great camaraderie and it just reflects so well on screen. There is nothing better that a filmmaker could possibly ask for.

Yes, one can see all the love in 'Itni Si Baat'.

For audience, it is amazing that they can see the 'Pee Loon' [OUATIM] magic come alive again. It was the love anthem of that year and so many accolades came in. It was the best song of 2010 and is remembered till date even after so many years. It is great to be recreating that magic with 'Itni Si Baat'. Of course there was a lot of pressure to bring back that kind of connect. Honestly, it just turned out to be perfect on screen.

How do you see Emraan changing in the course of last six years?

I think Emraan is still a bit of an industry recluse. You would never see him in parties. His sense of humor is a little twisted, though kickass. It has only got nastier now (laughs). I had a blast on the sets with him. Earlier on, he at least used to smirk but not he says it all with a straight face, which is very funny. I think the rapport that we share is great. He is consistent in his performance regardless of what's happening in his personal life. To hold yourself so strong is just amazing; he does not show how things affected him in many ways.

Your director Tony D'Souza is a no-nonsense man.

He is one of the most phenomenal people that I have worked with. He is a great filmmaker and Azhar will prove that he has certain art that comes along. It was amazing shooting with him. He is such a nice person. This is a unanimous thought amongst one and all. He is such a great guy and it reflects in his work as well. All these moments that you see in the film, there is a soul of his that reflects in there. He is such a calm person regardless of what is happening on the sets.

How?

There were times we had some tough situations w.r.t. locations or timings. For us actors it sometimes became quite tough but he was the only person who was unperturbed by it all. He used to stay on even beyond the pack time. While we would go back home, he would be seen prepping for the next day. He always had that smile on his face which was commendable. Life so much easier around him as he never lost his cool and knew how to handle things.

As a leading lady, you are returning on the big screen three years after Policegiri [2013]. How did you stay calm during this time period? Isn't that too much of a gap?

I would blame it on the lack of good opportunities. I would love to do films which suit my age and where co-stars are from my age group. I would love to do a romcom or an intense love story. The kind of parts that I have been doing until now, I don't think a love story has featured anywhere. I have been dabbling with varied genres in films like Rock On!, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Bol Bachchan etc. and while they were successful, I was looking out for something different. See, everyone gets typecast in a image and then gets into a rut. I don't think people want to give you chance to do something else. I wonder about their lack of imagination.
