Actor Elnaaz Norouzi has spoken out following the United States and Israel’s reported strikes on multiple locations across Iran, including the capital, Tehran. The attacks, described by US President Donald Trump as “major combat operations,” come amid escalating tensions over Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.
Taking to social media, Norouzi shared an emotional video message, saying she had been “glued to the TV” as news of the conflict unfolded. Addressing the surge of messages she had received about the situation, the actor said many people outside Iran do not fully understand the complexities of what is happening within the country.
In her statement, Norouzi drew a clear distinction between the Iranian people and the ruling establishment. She alleged that the current regime has oppressed citizens for decades and claimed that many Iranians have consistently voiced their opposition over the years. According to her, civilians should not be held responsible for the decisions of those in power.
“If anybody dies in this war, if any civilians die in this war — not the regime — it is solely the Islamic Republic’s fault,” she said, asserting that ordinary Iranians have repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction with the leadership.
Norouzi also referred to recent protests and unrest inside the country, stating that dissent has been met with severe consequences. She urged audiences to listen to the voices of Iranian citizens rather than generalise the population as a whole.

Her remarks come at a sensitive time, as diplomatic negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue alongside military escalation. The developments mark a significant moment in West Asia’s geopolitical landscape, with concerns mounting over civilian safety and regional stability.
Norouzi concluded her message by reiterating that, in her view, the people of Iran do not support the actions of the ruling regime and should not bear the cost of the ongoing conflict.
