Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson praised his old friend and former The Mummy Returns co-star Brendan Fraser as the latter’s film The Whale received a six-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival 2022.
Dwayne celebrated the actor, his work, and recalled working with him on The Mummy Returns. "Man this makes me so happy to see this beautiful ovation for Brendan," Johnson wrote on Sunday, retweeting a clip of Fraser. "He supported me coming into his Mummy Returns franchise for my first ever role, which kicked off my Hollywood career. Rooting for all your success brother and congrats to my bud Darren Aronofsky."

The Mummy Returns premiered in 2001, as a sequel to 1999’s The Mummy. Johnson portrayed the character Scorpion King in the second installment while Fraser reprised his role of adventurer Rick O'Connell. Johnson’s performance even earned his own spinoff, The Scorpion King in 2002.
The Whale follows Charlie, a heavily obese man who feels lost in life as he tries to reconnect with his estranged 17-year-old daughter. At the Venice Film Festival premiere, when the credits rolled on the Darren Aronofsky drama, the actor was overcome with emotion and sobbed throughout the six-minute standing ovation.
The Whale does not have a theatrical date yet.
