Following the release of solo and group posters, Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn unveiled the much-awaited trailer of Drishyam 2. Starring Tabu, Shriya Saran, Akshaye Khanna, and Ishita Dutta, the trailer launch took place on Monday, October 17 in Goa, keeping the central location of the film in mind. The logline reads, “Shabdon pe nahin, drishyon pe dhyaan do. Kyunki shabdon mein, jhooth chupne ki jagah dhoond hi leta hai (Pay attention to the visuals, not the words. Because in words, a lie finds a place to hide).”
Considering Drishyam 2 is a remake of the Malayalam film with the same, Ajay Devgn was asked about the current trend in the Hindi film industry where films are being remade from another language rather than pushing original content forward. Reacting to the same at the press conference in Goa on Monday, Ajay Devgn said that the treatment of the film is different from the original. He also revealed that Akshaye Khanna’s character is a new addition to the story. Ajay stated, "The film has been treated in a different manner. There are a lot of changes, you won't see Akshaye's character in the original. You will feel, this is a fresh film."
Director Abhishek Pathak said that they did take enough time to rewrite the story. “We took 7 months to rewrite the film. We have made a lot of changes and retained the essence,” he said at the press conference.
Meanwhile, Drishyam 2 will also feature Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta amongst others. Drishyam 2 begins seven years after the events in the first film, testing Vijay’s resolve to protect his family for whom he would cross any limits. This movie aims to provide justice to the ‘crime-thriller’ genre in every way possible.
Viacom18 Studios Presents Gulshan Kumar, T-Series and Panorama Studios present, Drishyam 2 produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak and Krishan Kumar. The original score and music is by Rockstar DSP (Devi Sri Prasad). Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 2 is set to release theatrically on November 18, 2022.
