“I don’t think Juhi Chawla will remember me,” says her 90s co-star Shanthi Priya 90 : Bollywood News

Shanthi Priya was a regular name in south Indian movies in the 1990s. She also did some Bollywood films and is known for being Akshay Kumar’s first actress in his debut film Saugandh in 1991. Among the Hindi films she did in her prime was Mere Sajana Saath Nibhana (1992). Looking back today, Shanthi Priya doesn’t have fond memories of that film as far as her co-actress in the movie is concerned.

Mere Sajana Saath Nibhana had Mithun Chakraborty and Juhi Chawla in lead roles. In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Shanthi Priya has shared that she didn’t get good vibes from Juhi during the shoot of the film.

The actress said that contrary to today’s times, bonding between two actresses was rare back then because of the stiff competition. “Female-female they don’t even look at each other. Like now, it’s really nice to see them together, go on holidays and dinners. We never used to do that. There was so much competition. I don’t know what was the reason (and) why it was like that in my days,” she said.

Talking about Juhi Chawla, Shanthi Priya said, “But during Mere Sajna Saath Nibhana, it was cold. I don’t know if she (Juhi) used to look at me like, ‘Oh, she’s South Indian, a new girl’, I don’t know, but that was the energy I used to get (from her). We didn’t interact much, and we didn’t have too many scenes together. Now also, if she sees me, I should remind her. I don’t think she’ll remember (me).”

Shanthi Priya recently made a comeback in the Hindi arena last year with the MX Player show Dharavi Bank. Directed by Samit Kakkad, it starred Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi and Sonali Kulkarni.
