Baahubali producer the affable and gentle Shobu Yarlagadda is dazed and exhilarated by the success of Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion. He is in London with director Rajamouli with their respective families trying to enjoy a well-deserved brief holiday away from the bustle of the burly blockbuster.

But the collections are not to be ignored. Says Shobu, “Yes, I heard the collections have touched Rs. 1,000 crores. I don’t know what a 1,000 crores looks like. Of course I am happy for myself, Rajamouli and the entire Baahubali team. But right now we are not thinking about how much profit we’re likely to make. We’re just happy that the film got the acceptance we had hoped it would. In fact, much more.”

There is the burden of making something equally influential next. And Shobu feels the pressure. “Of course there is the anxiety in me as a producer and in Rajamouli. But we know there can never be another Baahubali. We are not even going to try to go there again.”

Apparently Rajamouli’s next feature film would be as removed from the costume-drama genre as cinema permits. “We need to prove ourselves in other genres. No one can do Baahubali again. To even try it is stupid. As far as Baahubali 3 is concerned, if we get the right script, why not? But nothing is planned as of now,” says Shobu.

The producer who began his career with a small intimate drama Morning Raga in 2004 requests Baahubali fans not to spread false stories. “I read that we donated our first day’s collection to the army. It’s a great thought. But we haven’t done anything of this sort so far. How can the social network take such financial decisions on our behalf? This kind of fake news is most embarrassing to all of us. And it’s no way to show your love for the film.”

Shobu says there are no plans regarding the film or its finances. “We haven’t even started to process all information regarding the success of Baahubali 2. Let Rajamouli and I come back to India. Then we’ll decide what needs to done. In the meanwhile I request fans of Baahubali to not make false decisions on our behalf.”
