Although we don’t see her on the silver screen much, Dia Mirza now makes use of her star status for varied social causes. From animal welfare to cleanliness drive, the actress has been contributing her share towards the cause by working for them. Now, she has joined hands for the cleanliness drive that promises to improve the current condition of beaches.
Earlier we saw Randeep Hooda lending a helping hand to the volunteers at Versova Beach in order to deal with the aftermath of Ganpati Visarjan which generally leave beaches in sad plight. Similarly, the popular Juhu Beach was no different as remnants of the immersed idols had led to extreme dirt and garbage in the beach. The actress along with her filmmaker-husband Sahil Sangha decided to extend their support to the drive and cleaned the beach along with other volunteers.
Explaining the condition of these beaches on social media, Sahil Sangha shared a collage of how Juhu Beach looked like post the rituals of Ananth Chathurdashi and also wrote a long note about its adverse effects on the sea and waterbodies. Requesting people to ban non-biodegradable materials, he wrote, “Today Citizens of Mumbai joined the #BMC to roll up their sleeves and help clean #JuhuBeach post the festivities. It is time that we all pushed for policy reform to #BanPlastic and Ban the use of Non BioDegradable Materials to make our beloved idols. It is imperative that we support our govt and each other to sustain a healthy environment! Very proud of all those who showed up and grateful to those who are spreading awareness for the urgent need of #WasteManagement. These problems have been created by us and now must be solved by us! #memumbaikar.”
His wife and former beauty queen Dia Mirza also showed her support on her Instagram page by reposting her husband’s post.
