The ‘Crush India Movement’ took place at the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, which was ultimately won by India, and it led to the formation of Bangladesh, earlier known as East Pakistan. Before the start of the war, not only the Pakistani government and military but also the common citizens were charged up for the war. In order to show their support for Pakistan in defeating India, thousands of citizens, encouraged by the political class, marched in Lahore while chanting slogans in support of Pakistan and against India.

The main slogan of the people at the procession was ‘Crush India.’ People held banners and placards with the words ‘Crush India.’ Pamphlets with the same words were also distributed and stuck on walls and vehicles. The movement eventually also spread in other areas of Pakistan.

The teaser of Gadar 2 features this incident from the history. It will be interesting to see how Sunny Deol’s iconic character Tara Singh would respond or do in such a situation, since he is shown to be present at the centre of action.

Gadar 2 is all set to release this year on August 11. The film will be clashing with Animal and OMG 2, which are also slated to release on the same day.
