The music launch of Chhaava was held in style at the iconic Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai and was attended by Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, director Laxman Utekar, producer Dinesh Vijan and music maestro A R Rahman. A R Rahman and his team performed on all the songs of the film and moreover, the interaction that he had with Vicky in between was also a major highlight of the evening. Also, Dinesh Vijan gave some headline-worthy quotes.

Dinesh Vijan began by saying, “It was a given in our heads that we want A R Rahman sir but it took a while to convince him. Since Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s story was tragic, he was a little concerned. But in the film, the music has made tragedy a celebration. That’s the biggest victory of Rahman sir’s score.”

When asked if he feels the pre-release jitters, Dinesh Vijan replied, “There’s no nervousness until Thursday. Then, on Thursday night, I get nervous and edgy. Ultimately, we put the film out for the audience and you hope that your thoughts are relevant. It’s not something whose fate we can control.”

He then revealed, “But this is the first time that I am completely not nervous! This is because I feel that what we set out to achieve, we have done more than that. Vicky Kaushal has given his life, blood, sweat and tears to the role. We are extremely grateful and also very confident about the film.”

He also said, “This film has the ability to show the world what an Indian hero stands for. If they have Avengers, we have Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj!” As expected, the theatre thundered with applause.

Dinesh Vijan continued, “Earlier, we were fascinated with the West. That’s why we made a film like Cocktail (2012). It was shot in foreign locations and was very aspirational. Today, this new India is proud of who we are. We look within and when we do, you’ll be amazed with the stories that you have.”

He added, “Hence, we have made Chhaava for India, by India and of India. It’s a film that will show the world that we can make a world-class product. The crowning jewel of this endeavour is A R Rahman. I can’t tell you what the score has done to this film. That’s what we are celebrating tonight.”

Chhaava releases in cinemas on February 14.
