With several speculations about the film doing the rounds, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani recently decided to talk about the Sanjay Dutt biopic which has been a project close to his heart. The film finally went on floor this month, just a few days ago and to mark the day the team decided to go ahead and celebrate the moment.

Joining the celebrations was none other than actress-producer Dia Mirza who has joined the cast of the film. Though she has been away from the silver screen for a while now, Dia will now play a pivotal role in the upcoming biopic. She shares a good rapport with Rajkumar Hirani with whom she has worked in the film Lage Raho Munnabhai in which she had a small yet significant role to play.

Dia Mirza was spotted on the sets and even cut the cake with the team which included Rajkumar Hirani, the leading man Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, writer Abhijat Joshi among others on the first day of their shoot. The actress shared the picture on social media with a caption that read, “The happiest place in the world is on a @RajkumarHirani film set 🙂 #SanjayDuttBiopic #RanbirKapoor #AbhijatJoshi #RajkumarHirani #VickyKaushal #CinemaLove #BTS #Day1”

Readers may be aware that the Kapoor boy has also undergone several preps to play the role of Sanjay Dutt in the film with conviction. On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal plays the role of Sanjay’s best friend in the film. Sanjay Dutt biopic, which is yet to be titled, also stars Sonam Kapoor playing RK’s love interest, Paresh Rawal playing Sunil Dutt, Anushka Sharma in the role of a journalist among others.
