Captain Marvel star Brie Larson opens up about her sequel The Marvels – “This is bonkers”

Oscar-winning actor Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel/Carol Denvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently revealed her first reaction to the crazy script for the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, which premieres on February 17, 2023.

In a recent interview with Uproxx, the Captain Marvel star answered questions about her upcoming role in The Marvels and shared her impressions about the crazy plot of the upcoming sequel while leaving out any new details. The 32-year-old actress also talked about her experience with the film’s director Nia DaCosta while praising the filmmaker’s talent. “I feel it’s like, I wish I could talk about it. I can talk about my feelings around it. I can say that…” Brie Larson told the outlet. “I can’t say enough about how incredible our director, Nia DaCosta, is and what an honor it was to work with her, what an immense talent she is, how much I just feel like she’s the future.”

“And I could also say that, when I read the script for the first time, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was like, this is bonkers,” she added. “And it’s the thing that I love about Marvel, is that they continue to reinvent. They continue to do the thing that you just would never think would be possible in these films. And they’re not afraid to go there.”

Further revealing her excitement about the sequel film being a delight to the fans, Brie Larson says, “So I’m super excited about what we did. I think there are some huge personal achievements of mine that I’m really excited about sharing, but you know, it’s fun to have a bit of a secret. And it’s fun to know that, when this film comes out, people are going to be delighted. And I get to keep that to myself for a little bit longer.”

Captain Marvel’s sequel film The Marvels stars Brie Larson, who reprises her role as Carol Denvers/Captain Marvel, WandaVision breakout star Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and MCU newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, who is set to debut later this year Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. Samuel L. Jackson is also set to return as Nick Fury.

The sequel is being penned by Megan McDonnell with Nia DaCosta (Candyman) directing. Additional cast also includes actress Zawe Ashton (Velvet Buzzsaw) as the sequel’s antagonist and South Korean actor Park Seo Joon in an undisclosed role.
