Five musicians who were most-talked about in 2022 are as below:

BTS
Unsurprisingly, BTS were the most talked-about music artists by Indian fans this year. Having engaged audiences with new releases, performances, career milestones and award wins, the band retained its dominance among the Indian music community in 2021. Their popularity in India is common knowledge, and the band’s fans choose Twitter to stay connected to them. This unstoppable K-pop group crossed several career milestones this year, produced record-breaking music, and continued to inspire their #ARMY. From the release of the upbeat song #Butter, the band’s collaboration with the iconic Coldplay for #MyUniverse, to performing #PermissionToDance at the United Nations General Assembly and winning numerous awards including three MTV VMAs - it was an exciting year for the band’s fandom.

LATA MANGESHKAR
Fondly known as India’s Nightingale, Lata Mangeshkar celebrated her 92nd birthday this year. As the Indian film fraternity and fans from all over the world took to Twitter to wish the veteran singer, they were in for a surprise. The singer acknowledged this love and adulation with a voice Tweet, thanking audiences for their wishes. This voice message from the queen of melodies herself won the hearts of Indians and music lovers across the globe.

A.R.Rahman
Oscar-winning Indian music composer A.R. Rahman (@arrahman) is one of the most celebrated music talents in India and the world, and this year, he frequently engaged with his fan community on Twitter. From hosting a Twitter Space to talk about his debut as a writer and producer with the movie #99songs, to winning a Grammy nomination for his music for the movie #Mimi, to asking his audience’s opinions about turning one of his songs into an NFT (Non-Fungible Token), the maestro kept fans busy and talking throughout the year.

TAYLOR SWIFT
This year, Taylor Swift was a force to reckon with. While fans were still recovering from the spell of her December 2020 release ‘Evermore’, the singer knew no rest. Moving forward with her bid to own all of her music (boss lady, this one), Taylor published re-recordings of two of her albums - Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version). The singer’s fans, aka Swifties, kept Twitter timelines buzzing to express their limitless joy and support for the artist’s relentless work and unmatched talent.

ARMAAN MALIK
Armaan Malik is, without a doubt, one of Twitter’s favourites. The musician, who has been very vocal about his fondness for K-pop music, released his first K-pop collaboration this year. Armaan partnered with K-pop star Eric Nam, who he had met on Twitter and music producer KSHMR for the song #Echo. The song inspired praise and appreciation from his fans, who regularly engage with the artist in one-on-one conversations on Twitter. In fact, Armaan also acknowledged this in a Tweet, thanking Twitter for helping him connect with his fans and audience.
